I’ve always found museums strange and otherworldly
Down each hall collections of the past carefully staged behind glass
In one stands plinths of ceramic artefacts, once a bowl or cup or plate
In another perfectly preserved species we systematically eliminated
Museums are a horrifying place with these creatures painful displayed
A reminder of just how destructive of our kind always seems to be
But worst of all in the largest hall is what turns and rots my stomach
Propped up people from times gone by under a thousand eyes
Grotesque camera clicks and three phrase plaques not read always ignored
These bones should not be here they should be back home buried abroad
But here they are in the name of history stolen from those lands
I wonder what they think of us gawking here for entertainment
I’ve always found museums strange and otherworldly
They are places full of horror, grounds of the unholy
Prompt: Taxidermy
