Escapril day 4! Today’s prompt was Trip. As per usual, Sydney trains were a mess due to the wet weather, a standard occurrence any Sydneysider it well aware of.

Poem Text:
St James, Circular Quay, Opera House and Harbour Bridge
Oh, a cruise ship in the bay, watch how asthma across the city worsens
Wynyard, Town Hall, chocolate, sweets and spice stores
Oh, tourists clamour, knocking bodies not knowing the unspoken rules
Central, Redfern, relax a little now, the city begins to let you go
Oh, it rained, add forty minutes, call and say you’ll be late for dinner
Then you move again, hurtling past blurred stations and suburbs
Oh, it cancels your stop, change elsewhere then backtrack up the line
The train was like a sardine can, claustrophobic, sour with sweat
But then you’re home, relieved, sending silent prayers for tomorrow
You survived the trip.
But there is rain forecast tomorrow.
Oh.
