Writing to music is not something every writer loves to do, but for those that love it, here is a collection of videos to save for your next writing session.

For myself, it depends on the project and the mood I’m in. Sometimes I need silence, or as close to it as I can achieve in our little apartment. But more and more often I find myself drawn to writing with music. Now, the key thing for me is the music can’t be too distracting. As much as I love Taylor Swift, I’m going to want to sing along rather than write my own stuff to it.

This means that I typically try and find something vibey, mostly instrumental to write to. I set it not too loud, and usually the longer the playlist the better so I don’t have to leave my work to change to something new.

So without further ado, here are some of the recent YouTube music playlists I’ve been listening to while working on a cosy short story collection I’m planning on publishing here on my blog next month. I’ve thrown in a few I listened to while working on my fantasy novel as well. Perhaps you’ll find something you like to write to below!

This is another playlist I’ve been listening to lately while writing. The video is cute as a background visual on my second computer screen, and the music is gentle, non distracting and almost mediative in how it flows.
