Blog page banner with illustrative library building in muted colours grey, cream, yellow and orange. Text Reads in Orange Letters from the library. Smaller subtext in grey reads A journey in professional development and reflection through the eyes of a budding librarian. All of this sits on a pale cream background that is textured to look like recycled paper.

I’m Catherine, a writer, reader and librarian in training based in Sydney, Australia.

I have previously worked in the Australian book publishing industry across publishing houses Bloomsbury, Allen & Unwin and Murdoch Books in trade sales (Adult, Children’s and Special Interest). I have been lucky enough to work on the publications for many authors including Ann Patchett, Sarah J Maas, Madeline Miller, Cixin Liu, Samantha Shannon and Lisa Taddeo and many more.

I am studying a Master of Information Studies to become a qualified librarian at the end of 2024. Currently I am the Sydney based volunteer Library Assistant for Dementia Australia, helping look after and share their comprehensive collection of resources for those living with or caring for people with dementia.

Here on this page I aim to share some of my journey from student to professional librarian, through professional development and reflection. I hope you find something useful or insightful in these letters I share from my library experiences.

Happy reading,
